Das ist mal eine wirklich schöne Geschichte!

Während bei uns in Deutschland oft „Morbus Pastoris“ vorherrschend ist, wenn man Pastoren oder Pfarrer oder den zukünftigen Papst wegen Sonnenuhren anschreibt, habe ich hier im fernen Japan eine gänzlich andere Erfahrung gemacht!

Yoshimi Kamakura war im Mai 2012 mit seiner Fotogruppe in OTSU.

Er schickte mir Sonnenuhren-Aufnahmen vom dortigen Zeit-Museum (Siehe in diesem Link!) und auch von einer Sonnenuhr, die er im Englischen Garten im Yanagasaki Park gesehen hatte. Diese Sonnenuhr sah nicht gerade japanisch aus und ich fragte ihn durch meine Frau, ob es vor Ort eine Erklärungstafel gegeben habe. Er schickte mir einen Link von diesem Park und darin enthalten war eine Adresse.

Meine Frau bat dort um einige Auskünfte und man möge doch, wenn möglich, in Englisch antworten und die Antwort gleich an meine Emailadresse schicken.

Am 5. Juni traf diese wirklich außergewöhnliche Antwort bei mir ein:

We are pleased to let you know that we have found information about the sundial in Yanagasaki Park you asked for. Below find the requested information:

1. Designer/ Date of manufacture

2. Was it an occasional gift ?

The English garden in Yanagasaki park was inspired by Barakura English garden in Chino, Nagano. Yanagasaki Park designed the English garden by following advices and taking in tips given by Barakura English Garden in 2002 ? 2003.

We presume that the antique style sundial was used as antique style is something of very English kind of we all come across with. There are some more of antique items you can find there. We are afraid we haven’t found the designer of the sundial as it wasn’t designed and made for the garden but was purchased from a shop.

Monument : H330mm×W240mm

Upper part of the base : φ＝360mm

Middle part of the base : φ= 260mm

Bottom part of the base : φ= 280 mm

Height of the base = 1000mm

Material: Mrtar ( Marble like material on the surface)

Weight: ≒150kg
